The Pink dress

The "Pink Dress" by Lily Bird Studio (you can find this pattern on etsy).  Pattern is very well written although I was a little confused on the cutting out of the next piece but I just had to sit down and map it out in my head before I cut.  This pattern comes in sized from 12 months to 8 years and is a printable pdf pattern which are my favorite.  Quite frankly . . .all patterns should come this  way!!!  No tracing paper. . .just reprint in the size you want!

Picked up this fabric recently at the Waterwheel House Quilt Shop in Londonderry VT.  Great quilt shop with lots of modern fabric  . . .just my style!  The trim fabric was actually a sale fabric and at $12 for two yards. . .you can't go wrong.

Made a size 2T which only called for 1/2 a yard of each so I have plenty of fabric left for other projects.

Not a lot of serving required in this project so if you don't have a serger this is a good project and would not require a lot of zig zagging.  I do have one (I really dislike the zig zag stitch) and serged all open edges to keep them from fraying.

So if you are looking for a fun dress project. . .check out Lily Bird Studio on Etsy . . she has a ton of great patterns and this is the second one I have used and I have been very impressed with both thus far. One happy crafter:)

I really love to sew!!!

Having the best time sewing right now.  I absolutely love it.  Made this little number for Brooke last weekend from a free pattern on the Oliver + S website.  (http://oliverands.com/free-patterns/ruffled-halter).
I did make a few changes.  1.  I serged the edge of each ruffle layer and sewed a 1/4 inch hem instead of just sewing a 1/4 inch along the raw edged and allowing it to fray.  The frayed look is just not my style.
 2.  I put 1/4 inch elastic in the back halter edge so that it fits nicely in the back and then has the ability to grow with her as she gets bigger.  Without it I thought the back was way too loose in my opinion.
Hope to get some great shots of her in it soon.  Got one on my iPhone but it is not great.  On to more happy sewing. . .have lots of projects in mind.

Peerie Flooers Hat

I have to admit that there is one thing I like more than cables when it comes to knitting. . . .fair isle!  I just love the anticipation of each color and how its going to look.  No matter what I do when it comes
to fair isle knitting whether it be a hat or a sweater. . .I can't wait to get back to the next row!

This hat patter I purchased on Ravelry from Katie Davies . . titled the Peerie Flooers Hat.  There are also matching mittens which I am starting next!  Very exciting!!!  This is the second pattern of hers that I have used (the other was the owlet pattern for the sweater I made my daughter this fall) and I will say that she has very well written and easy to follow patterns and color charts.  Good Job!

The yarn is Rowan Fine Tweed that I purchased at Webs.  Love the colors and weight of this yarn but you must be careful because you can break the yarn very easily since it is a single ply.  Its worth the extra sensitivity though . . .the colors are amazing.  However, now that Jared Flood has come out with a finer weight yarn in his line I think if I made it again I might lean his way since his colors are just exceptional.

And a very special thank you for my number one model.  Since it was 90 degrees outside today she is a doll for putting this on her head for me to take photos!  Thank you Brookie!!!!!
